I've never read a Stephen King novel before.  But, last week, I was getting desperate for something good to read.  I was wandering around the house and saw that there were a few of his books on the shelves.  So, I picked up the uncut edtion of The Stand.  Let me tell you, this thing is a monster.  One thousand one hundred and forty pages(Whats the proper punctuation for spelling out numbers?  Aren't there supposed to be a few dashes in there?).

It's actually pretty good.  I'm fairly pleased.  Because, if I had to read through nearly twelve hundred pages of suckitude. . . LAME.  And, I have finished books that were really bad. The first, and usually only one, that springs to mind is Wither's Rain.  That piece of junk was a like a fifteen-year old's fan fiction.  Recently, however, Haley gave me another bad one to read:  Heart Shaped Box by Joe Hill.  Number three on the best seller list.  Wow.  It's shocking how so many people can be wrong.  It's awful.  But, at least, it's good for a laugh at how pathetically the author wishes he was the main character, an aging rock god.

Anyway, yeah.  The Stand is pretty good.  How's Salem's Lot?

P.S.  Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was great.

P.P.S.  Rest in Peace, Sydney Pollack

I would have to say I didn't like the whole alien idea...another not indy type movie, in my mind anyway.

It was the logical next step.

great for a movie, but not an Indy movie.

I'm aware of all of the problems people had with the movie, but it really fit well into the mythos, I thought. I enjoyed all of the references to the other movies and the adherence to continuity.

Of course, I have to say that I -do- like Shia. So, I did enjoy his role, as well.

Everything was fine until the tarzan swinging on vines part. That was stupid.

I just accepted it in the spirit of the moment. I had to laugh, it was just kinda silly and wacky. I can understand how it would bother someone, though.

Stiill, it's no temple of doom. That was the best Indy.

The mine cart ride is a masterpiece. But, actually, the more I read about them, the more I find that people rate Temple as the worst of the original three. Weird.

it's not the mine ride. It's the Indian Banquet scene. Baby snakes, Fried Tarantulas, Chilled Monkey Brains....brilliant!

The beginning is pretty rad, too.
