Entries for November, 2012

I think that there's an undeniable euphoria that comes from having a productive day.  I've had some difficult health problems of late, and I finally was able to get some traction on it.  Spent some time dealing with that, even got a prescription.  It's something that's been looming over my head ominously for quite some time, but now I feel like it's all gonna be okay.

Also, I heard a lady say that if she was to be reincarnated, she'd want to come back as a bird.  I don't know, for some reason that just really tickled me.

All I wanted to do was read my book outside.  Finally, I'd found a day where I didn't work, the weather was nice, the cats litter had been freshly changed(so no horrid cat poop smell), a delicious gallon of iced tea had been brewed, and my ipod speakers were charged.  I put down the blanket, put on some music, set my tea aside, and began to read 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

Bailey joined me briefly before fleeing due to bugs.  Haley sat out with me for some time before she, too, left to call her mother and wish her a Happy Birthday.  I was left alone, in bliss with my book, my tea, and my music.  All was well with the world.

And then it started to rain.

I wrote a little bit ago about some health problems I've been dealing with.  Sunday night/early Monday morning I had another attack.  Intense, brutal pain in my abdomen.  I lasted about four hours before I went to the ER.  They did a number of tests over two days before discovering that my gallbladder was definitely infected.  The operated and discovered that not only was it infected, but there was also a sizeable stone lodged in the duct or whatever.

So, it's gone.  Blessed, blessed relief.  I've been dealing with this since February, and it's finally over.  It's nearly enough to make me cry with relief.  And as soon as the wounds from the surgery heals up, it'll be almost like I'm a new person.

The more of Ben Elton's work I watch, the less I like his writing.  He seems like he just gets lazier and more repetitive with his jokes, and relies far too much on breaking the fourth wall to resolve his jokes.

In particular, Blackadder jokes are repetitive.

Blackadder:  This is about as [some negative adjective] as [absurdly wordy and extensive description of something hyperbolically stupid that isn't really very funny at all.]

Repeat that fifty times an episode.

Filthy Rich and Catflap is addicted to breaking the fourth wall.

FRaC:  Joke, joke, joke, increasingly absurd situation, stakes rise, chances of resolution are slim.  'OH, WELL, I'M SURE THE WRITER WILL FIGURE A WAY OUT OF THIS, HURR HURR!  OH, THE MAGIC OF TELEVISION!' Credits roll.
